Roman Holiday

The title of this movie, was the inspiration for the name of the main character in the novella I'm working on. Oddly enough, I discovered the movie once I'd started writing it, and it not only fit well, but Roman Holiday paraphernalia has followed me around the world.

Haroun and the Sea of Stories

This is an amazing book that I read yesterday. I strongly suggest you read it.

"In the north of the sad city stood mighty factories in which (so I'm told) sadness was actually manufactured, packaged, and sent all over the world, which never seemed to get enough of it. Black smoke poured out of the chimneys of the factories and hung over the city like bad news."

Finding More Things

I wrote this about a month ago:

One day I hope he wakes up
From dreaming of what true love is
From a sleep that shows that he is mine
And that I was always his.

Chapter Three

Where I noticed I no longer related to Jesse as much. If you've read the book, you're porbably laughing. Extremely entertaining read though nontheless.

Off to Pulp Fiction for another today.

Suicide Blonde

With today's sunshine, all I wanted to do was go to MacLeod's. I realized this book was why. I've never heard of Darcey Steinke, but I picked the book out of the piles instantly and could not have found a story that I can relate to more. Particularly those moments when you become acutely aware of yourself in the manifestation of your suffering.

This description of her boyfriend I thought was particularly interesting

"In temperament Bell was not so much exotic as sophisticatedly adolescent. He had intellectualized youth's themes, perfected and lyricized them."

My Beloved Serbia

This winter my friend Alana came to Novi Sad, my hometown with me. Here are some of our adventures.

Then after I threw our one set of keys onto the roof, this is how I came in and out of the house. Needless to say, attentive Alana caught it all on camera.

More Roses

Last time I watched this movie I was in Serbia. It was the middle of the night and I was in the attic.

I wonder how many times you can feel like that.

From the Pink Excercise Book

Breathing body temperature breeze
Puts a restless mind at ease.

Suprises

Moving back into my apartment, I've been finding little forgotten things everywhere. Today, I found a little pink notebook my bestfriend gave me last summer that's actually a children's excercise notebook for learning chinese characters. Instead of lines it has square.

Nebojsa

I wrote this journal entry in Serbia this past winter:

I went for a walk today with the boy mother and her best friend wanted me to marry since I was born.

Of course he's not a boy now, I think he's 28 or 27, and my mom's best friend was involved in the plans because he's her son, and my mother and her wanted to be related. Take the friendship to the next level.

Things didn't work out that way though.

I hadn't seen him for seven years, four years ago when I saw him on the night before I left Novi Sad for Vancouver again. When I said good night to him, in front of the entrance, in front of my apartment, his blue eyes were all I could see. I never forgot that.

If he hadn't told me at the beginning of that night that he found out his girlfriend was pregnant immediately before we met up, I would have thought we were going to kiss. But he was unexpectedly going to be a father, and her husband. I wonder if he thought that too.

The Benevolent Bee

The Benevolent Bee
By Senka Kovacevic

I am a benevolent bee
That found her way into your room
Your face is all I want to see
But you wave me away like stale perfume

In my hundred little eyes
I need to glimpse just one quick smile
Cause in my heart that multiplies
And makes me feel worthwhile

But to you, I’m just a nuisant pest
Intruding on your peace of mind
I believed you loved me best
But now your actions are so unkind

You used to drink all my honey
Until I was drained but elated
Now your craving has disappeared
But I am the one who is emaciated

The disappearance of your craving
For the sweetness of my making
Makes me desperate for it’s saving
And is the reason why my heart is breaking.

Akhmatova

White Night I haven't locked the door,
Nor lit the candles,
You don't know, don't care,
That tired I haven't the strength

To decide to go to bed.
Seeing the fields fade in
The sunset murk of pine-needles,
And to know all is lost,

That life is a cursed hell:
I've got drunk
On your voice in the doorway.
I was sure you'd come back.

Honey

This is what is inspiring me right now.
I found it in my suitcase as I was unpacking. I printed it out in Prague and kept it with me all through Europe. It's really beautiful.

---HONEY---

I asked for a kiss

because

beautiful women

like you

steal my courage

with

just a simple touch.

You leaned

closer

and kissed me

sweetly.

Now -

I put honey

on

everything.

It¹s all I can do

to remind my

lips

of you.
